Chelsea eye double swoop: Jorrel Hato and Xavi Simons poised for Stamford Bridge moves

Chelsea are closing in on a remarkable double deal that would reinforce both defence and attack.

Jorrel Hato, the 19-year-old Ajax standout, and Xavi Simons, the playmaker currently with RB Leipzig, are both entering the final phases of negotiations - each move a signal of intent from Enzo Maresca’s ambitious project.

Chelsea drive down prices but remain firm favourites

Chelsea have agreed personal terms with both players.

Hato, the left-back turned young centre-back has made over 100 senior appearances for Ajax and holds the distinction of being their youngest-ever captain.

Though Ajax initially valued him at €55-60 million, Chelsea’s determined stance - firm at about €40 million - has forced a compromise, with the transfer fee now more in favour of the Blues.

On the attacking front, marquee target Xavi Simons is also nearing a move to London after Leipzig reportedly valued the 22-year-old at €70 million including add-ons. Chelsea have since dropped the fee to about €43-65 million.

Two smart additions for a balanced squad and balanced books

Hato brings tactical flexibility and defensive maturity. Simons offers creativity and dynamism to a midfield searching for spark.

Chelsea’s summer has already seen significant arrivals - Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap - and record sales such as Joao Felix, Noni Madueke, and Djordje Petrovic are helping finance this investment.

Neither deal - Hato or Simons - is done yet, but if things keep heading this way, Chelsea might be closing out one of their smartest windows in recent years.
